Porsche Latin America High Voltage Expert receives training in Singapore
Miami. Porsche Latin America continues to accelerate its move towards electric mobility. To this end, training all technicians in the region in new high-voltage technologies is essential. With this in mind, and with the idea of making Mexico one of the eight Porsche world centers for training in electrification technologies outside Germany, the Miami regional office sent one of its four high voltage experts to Singapore to obtain the High Voltage Expert Trainer certificate."The idea behind the decentralization of high-voltage training is that the trainings meet local standards and at the same time help increase efficiency and magnify their reach," said Thomas Schneck, Senior Training Manager for Porsche Latin America (PLA). “With this in mind, we sent Juan Carlos Galvez, our After Sales Training Manager, to Singapore to obtain the certificate that will enable him to train high voltage experts in Latin America and the Caribbean."
A large part of the instruction program in the Asian country was focused on hands-on battery training to prepare technicians for servicing the 100 percent electric and plug-in hybrid models (Taycan, Cayenne, and Panamera).
The students underwent a thorough review and explanation of the safety, hazards and procedures they must implement to service electrified cars, while taking care of their own integrity and keeping themselves safe.
"This type of training allows us to be prepared to work under 'live' conditions during the repair of electrified cars," said Juan Carlos Galvez.
During the 10-day training program, technicians and high-voltage experts learned about all kinds of challenges in diagnosing, repairing and replacing battery cells, among many other technical aspects required by electric vehicles.
In line with Porsche's sustainability strategy, which aims to have a CO2-neutral value chain from 2030 onwards, the high-voltage trainers trained technicians and high-voltage experts on the best maintenance services that older Porsche models can receive for repairing their batteries instead of having to replace them with new ones.
"We have fascinating years ahead of us in the future of electric mobility in the automotive industry," Schneck concluded.
